Field Computer Specialist – U‑Haul

Compensation
Full‑time salaried – starting salary $64,350 per year.
Required Skills & Experience
- Electrical 120V and low voltage wiring, including conduit work
- Windows PC/tablet and printer installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance
- iOS device (iPhone/iPad) troubleshooting
- Networking, including VoIP, wiring, and router/switch installation
- Burglar alarm systems – wiring, device installation, and troubleshooting
- PTI access control systems – wiring, device installation, and troubleshooting
- Security camera systems (DVR/NVRs, coax, and IP) – wiring, camera installation, troubleshooting, and TV wall mounting
- Door hardware and lock installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance
Additionally, a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and the ability to travel on a company‑provided van, equipment, and tools are required. The position is on‑call and may require response outside of typical business hours, including weekends.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain maximum uptime for computer systems and broadband connectivity.
- Implement and maintain field computer systems for all entities within the assigned area.
- Support and train users as needed.
- Distinguish between user error and problems requiring escalation to other support teams or software vendors.
- Identify and coordinate solutions for security gaps and compliance issues.
- Participate in ongoing continuous education through U‑Haul University.
Minimum Qualifications
- Proficient with technologies including networking, systems administration, security‑monitoring equipment, storage gates, alarm systems, doors, digital video equipment, printers, VoIP, analog and air phones, and cash drawers.
- Current, valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Work Environment
The work involves moderate risks or discomforts that require special safety precautions, such as working around moving parts, machines, fumes, or irritating chemicals. The employee may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves, or shields.
Physical Demands
The role requires some physical exertion, including long periods of standing, traversing spaces, using tools, and moving a minimum of 50 lbs (assisted or unassisted).
