Job summary
Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to provide onsite installation oversight, commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance testing for gas engines and generator sets.
The role requires extensive travel across the United States and Canada and involves collaboration with EPC contractors, customers, and project teams. The position is based out of our Fort Worth or Houston area offices, with travel up to 70-80% and potential for long deployments at customer sites.
Qualifications
- Engineering degree or equivalent technical education required.
- Experience with commissioning, installation oversight, and testing.
- Requires travel up to 70-80% across North America.
- Ability to obtain security clearances.
Responsibilities
- Lead onsite safety and compliance during installs.
- Provide supervision and auditing of generator packages and equipment.
- Plan and execute commissioning, startup, and functional testing.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues across engine and control systems.
- Oversee performance testing and analyze operating data.
- Coordinate with EPCs, customers, and partners to maintain schedules.
- Prepare installation audits, reports, and warranty records.
- Represent Caterpillar professionally on site.
