Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a Commissioning Manager to lead engineers in the installation, startup, testing, and validation of large natural gas power systems across the United States. You will manage field operations and drive safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

The role requires 5-days-in-office work in Fort Worth or Houston, up to 25% travel in the US/Canada with occasional Germany onboarding. Relocation assistance and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent technical experience.
• Progressive leadership in commissioning or startup ops.
• Experience leading technical teams in power gen/oil & gas.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of commissioning engineers across the U.S.
• Plan and coordinate commissioning resources, schedules, and field activities.
• Partner with project managers, customers, EPC contractors, and suppliers to drive execution.
• Oversee installation audits, system startup, testing, and performance validation of engine-generator packages.
• Ensure all work complies with safety, environmental, quality and company standards.
• Review and approve commissioning documentation, reports, and punch lists for accuracy.
• Monitor progress, labor utilization, and performance; support reporting and invoicing.
• Provide technical leadership to resolve complex commissioning challenges and maintain customer relations.
