Job summary

The City of Woonsocket is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer to conduct inspections and investigations of possible violations of local ordinances and the Rhode Island Property Maintenance Code. You will communicate findings to property owners, contractors, and residents, and track violations to ensure timely compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with relevant construction/ housing/ safety knowledge.
• Knowledge of municipal enforcement codes and regulations.
• Ability to read maps, ordinances, and regulations; strong MS Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Investigates code violations on private property and in public right of way.
• Conducts property inspections for code compliance and safety hazards.
• Processes warnings, notices of violation, and documents inspections.
• Maintains records and communicates results to owners, contractors, and residents.
• Monitors progress of violations and coordinates with departments.
