Job summary

Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates is seeking an entry-level Construction Materials Testing/Inspection professional to support a range of public and private sector projects. You will assist in construction-phase tasks under supervision, potentially serving as Project Manager for CMT projects as you progress.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years of relevant experience; internships considered.
• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to interpret engineering and construction plans and specifications.
• Ability to lift and carry 60–80 pounds, including soil and concrete samples and testing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Support construction materials testing/inspection projects for public and private sector clients.
• Perform field inspections for complex projects including deep foundations or ground improvement.
• Serve as lead senior inspector on projects supervising other technicians.
• Review daily CMT field reports for accuracy and completeness in a Project Manager role.
• Coordinate and provide oversight to field technicians and inspection personnel as assigned.
• Perform occasional on-site CMT testing and inspection services for routine projects.
• Interpret engineering plans, specs, and construction documents.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, clients, contractors, and field personnel to support project execution.
• Ensure testing activities comply with standards, specifications, and quality requirements.
• Communicate with clients, contractors, developers, and project stakeholders.
• Adhere to company safety policies, procedures, and quality standards.
