Job summary

ECS Limited offers a unique opportunity for a talented Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Assistant Staff Professional to join our Frederick team and build foundational experience in construction observation, materials testing, and project workflows.

The role is primarily field-based, developing technical, consulting, and project management skills while upholding ECS Core Values and a positive customer service attitude.

Qualifications

• 4 years of experience in construction materials testing or equivalent.
• High school diploma or GED required; BS in Engineering preferred.
• Obtain certifications per ECS Technician Certification Policy.
• Valid driver’s license if driving for ECS.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work in teams and independently.
• Basic understanding of CMT principles; limited ASTM knowledge.
• Interest in project management and consulting environments.
• Ability to document and communicate field observations clearly.

Responsibilities

• Assist with field tasks supporting CMT projects.
• Perform construction observation and testing with guidance from senior staff.
• Document site conditions and testing results in daily field reports.
• Communicate changes in site conditions or testing needs to project staff.
• Interact with contractors, technicians, and project team on sites.
• Participate in project meetings with senior staff as requested.
• Begin learning soil classification and testing methods.
• Perform testing on soils, aggregates, foundations, concrete, masonry, structural steel, asphalt, and fireproofing with limited supervision.
• Assist with preparation of calculations, reports, and project documentation.
• Support project lifecycle activities with limited office work as experience develops.
• Perform other field and project support duties as assigned.
