Job summary

ECS Limited is seeking a talented Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Assistant Staff Project Manager to join our [CITY] team. This role is primarily field-based, offering foundational experience in observation, materials testing, and project workflows, under the direction of more senior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Valid driver's license if driving for ECS subsidiaries.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented work ethic.
• Ability to work effectively in teams and independently.
• Basic understanding of construction materials testing principles (developing).
• Limited knowledge of ASTM standards and testing procedures.
• Interest in project management and consulting environments.
• Ability to document and communicate field observations clearly.

Responsibilities

• Assists with field tasks supporting construction materials testing projects.
• Performs construction observation and testing activities with guidance from senior staff.
• Documents site conditions and testing results in daily field reports.
• Communicates changes in site conditions or additional testing needs to project staff.
• Interacts with contractors, technicians, and project team members on job sites.
• Participates in project meetings with senior staff as requested.
• Begins learning soil classification and testing methods.
• Performs testing on soils, aggregates, foundations, concrete, masonry, structural steel, asphalt, and fireproofing with limited supervision.
• Assists with preparation of calculations, reports, and project documentation.
• Supports project lifecycle activities with limited office work as experience develops.
• Performs other field and project support duties as assigned.
