Job summary

Auto-Owners Insurance in the Toledo Region is seeking a motivated field claims professional to manage the life-cycle of claims, including investigation, evaluation, and resolution.

The role covers multi-line property and casualty claims with emphasis on property, requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, solid communication, and a valid driver’s license. Training and benefits are provided to support ongoing career growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or direct equivalent experience handling property and casualty claims.
• Minimum of 3 years handling multi-line property and casualty claims with an emphasis on property claims.
• Field claims handling experience preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of Xactimate software preferred but not required.
• Above average communication skills, written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and assemble facts, determine policy coverage, evaluate the amount of loss, and analyze legal liability.
• Handle multi-line property and casualty claims in an assigned territory with an emphasis on property claims.
• Become familiar with insurance coverage by studying policies, endorsements, and forms.
• Work toward claim resolution, and may attend arbitrations, mediations, depositions or trials as necessary.
• Ensure that claim payments are issued in a timely and accurate manner.
• Conduct investigations by phone, mail, and on-site.

This role handles insurance claims in the field under general supervision through the life‑cycle of a claim—including investigation, evaluation, and resolution. Responsibilities include:

• Ability to resolve complex issues and organize and interpret data.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments and effectively deal with a diverse group of individuals.
• Strong mathematical skills, including geometry, unit costs, and understanding of personal and business finance documents.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record consistent with company underwriting guidelines.
