Job summary

Auto-Owners Insurance is seeking a motivated field claims professional to join our team in the United States. This role handles field claims through the life-cycle, from investigation to resolution, servicing agents and insureds to ensure timely, accurate outcomes.

Preferred candidates hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in property and casualty claims, with 3+ years in multi-line claims. Strong communicator with data interpretation skills will thrive in this environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or direct equivalent experience handling property and casualty claims.
• Minimum of 3 years handling multi-line property and casualty claims with emphasis on property claims.
• Field claims handling experience preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of Xactimate software preferred but not required.
• Above average communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to resolve complex issues.
• Organize and interpret data.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments.
• Ability to deal with a diverse group of individuals.
• Ability to read and interpret financial documents and calculations.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and assemble facts, determine policy coverage, evaluate loss, and analyze liability.
• Handle multi-line property and casualty claims in an assigned territory with emphasis on property.
• Become familiar with insurance coverage by studying policies, endorsements and forms.
• Work toward the resolution of claims, and attend arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials as necessary.
• Ensure that claims payments are issued in a timely and accurate manner.
• Handle investigations by phone, mail and on-site investigations.
