Job summary

MECO is seeking a Construction Inspector to support its growing civil infrastructure projects in Jefferson City, MO. The role requires travel to job sites across the region and involves field inspections, documentation, and QA oversight to ensure conformance with project specs and safety requirements.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of field inspection experience, OSHA 10 certification (or the ability to obtain), and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of field inspection experience in civil construction.
• Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and inspection practices.
• OSHA 10 certification (or ability to obtain prior to starting).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to complete accurate field reports.
• Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily on-site inspections of construction activities, including pipelines, pump stations, and treatment facilities.
• Observe and report on contractor methods, materials, and workmanship for conformance with approved plans and specs.
• Document construction progress through photos, measurements, and daily inspection reports.
• Support field and laboratory testing of construction materials (e.g., concrete, soils, asphalt) under supervision.
• Identify and report any non-compliant or defective work to senior staff.
• Help ensure OSHA safety standards and site-specific safety plans are being followed.
• Communicate effectively with field staff, contractors, and internal project teams.
• Attend site meetings and participate in RFI and submittal tracking, as needed.
