Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Field Engineer to support field operations on transportation and heavy civil projects in Texas and nearby states. The role covers contract administration, project planning, scheduling, quantity management, cost controls, and reporting, with supervision of field crews.

Responsibilities include interpreting drawings, preparing work plans, coordinating work groups, and maintaining project documentation while ensuring safety and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field.
• 3–5 years of construction field/office engineering experience.
• Experience with infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, dams, water treatment).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and contract documents.
• Willingness to travel and work at different project sites.

Responsibilities

• Assist with interpretations of drawings and specifications for field crews and supervision.
• Prepare work plans and work packages.
• Supervise field surveying and layout support including elevation and control points.
• Assist in compiling daily labor timesheets and JHA's.
• Participate in jobsite safety reviews and toolbox talks.
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on the jobsite.
• Perform material takeoffs from drawings and specs.
• Prepare data for submittals to customers, vendors, and agencies.
• Prepare purchase orders and subcontracts; perform minor solicitations.
• Maintain schedule updates and project records (daily reports, RFIs, memos).
• Report data to job cost system and review cost reports with management.
• Generate change orders and as-built data for PM review.
• Provide field support and supervise subcontractor operations.
