Job summary

McAdams is a full-service land planning, landscape architecture, civil engineering, transportation, and geomatics firm seeking a Construction Observer to monitor site civil construction progress and quality on multiple projects.

You will review contractor drawings, communicate with field crews, and prepare site progress reports while ensuring compliance with sanitary sewer, water distribution, stormwater controls, and lighting standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s degree in Survey/Construction preferred.
• 1–3 years of site civil construction experience or 5+ years in civil engineering design.

Responsibilities

• Read site civil plans and understand work sequence.
• Review contractor shop drawings for plan compliance.
• Communicate with field personnel and design staff on progress.
• Create site progress reports meeting specifications.
• Apply lighting standards for compliance certifications.
• Observe required utility testing for regulatory compliance.
• Support safety and company policies in daily activities.
• Escalate potential hazards and unsafe conditions.
• Assist in hydrant flow tests and confined space inspections.
• Assess accessible routes for compliance certifications.
