Interns collaborate across offices and field sites, supporting PMs, safety, and estimating activities, and will gain practical knowledge of heavy civil construction in a full-time, in-person internship.

Qualifications

• Junior or Senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related.
• Interest and knowledge of the heavy highway construction industry.
• Desire to gain hands-on experience in the office and field by shadowing knowledgeable professionals.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage time and handle multiple tasks at once.
• Demonstrated ability to use software programs including MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of safety requirements, policies, and any required safety training.

Responsibilities

• Utilize construction technology and software such as Vista Viewpoint, HCSS, Bluebeam, and others.
• Build relationships and communicate with the team, owners, design partners, and subcontractors.
• Utilize GPS units to track quantities in the field.
• Support with project layout, staging, and quantity takeoffs.
• Participate in project meetings, including planning, scheduling, and coordination meetings.
• Assist Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foreman with field activities.
• Support the coordination of subcontractors to help maintain project schedules.
• Assist with quality processes such as QC checklists, pre‑activity meetings, quality standdowns, and rework.
• Partner with the Safety Team in promoting safe worksite practices and procedures.
• Support the Estimating team in upcoming project bids.
• Collect, review, and track trucking tickets for material quantities and job cost reporting.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
