Job summary

City of Dinuba is seeking an entry-level Building Inspector/Code Enforcement Officer to perform routine inspections and document violations. Under general supervision, you will investigate complaints, enforce building, plumbing, electrical, occupancy and zoning codes, and coordinate with other departments.

The role involves fieldwork across residential and commercial sites, preparing reports, and assisting with court-related proceedings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with specialized training in building trades or related field.
• Valid California Class C driver's license is required.
• ICC Certified Building Inspector or ability to obtain within one year.
• Experience with field inspections of buildings during construction, alteration, and repair.

Responsibilities

• Receive and document complaints regarding safety, health, and building violations.
• Conduct field inspections of buildings and installations for code conformance.
• Issue citations or refer violations to law enforcement when needed, and assist with court cases.
• Maintain a database of complaints and coordinate with other City departments.
