Job summary

City of Long Beach seeks a Building Inspector to ensure compliance of residential and small commercial structures with state and municipal codes. You will review plans, coordinate with residents and business owners, and issue notices when needed.

Under supervision, you will collect evidence, upload photos to INFOR/Hansen, and present findings. Strong communication and computer skills are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with employees, the public, and organizations.
• Ability to interact with persons of diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to perform routine arithmetic calculations; and
• Ability to operate a computer.

Responsibilities

• Inspect single and multi-family dwellings and minor commercial buildings for code compliance.
• Review plans for building, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical facilities for code compliance.
• Enter inspection data and upload photos into INFOR/Hansen Land Management System; prepare evidence for legal proceedings.
