Job summary

The Building People, LLC, is seeking a junior-level Building Controls Technician - Travel Team in San Francisco, CA to support field-based building controls projects across customer sites. You will perform existing conditions visits, document field conditions, and assist with installation, startup, programming, and verification of Tridium-based building automation systems under supervision.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years in building automation, HVAC controls, electrical, mechanical, low-voltage, field service, or related technical field preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical school or apprenticeship preferred.
• Experience with field work, site surveys, equipment documentation, installation/startup support, or service documentation preferred.
• Exposure to Tridium/Niagara, BAS platforms, DDC controls, BACnet, Modbus, IP networking, or related building systems preferred but not required.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet travel requirements.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites to perform existing conditions assessments of building controls infrastructure.
• Document existing conditions with notes, photos, inventories, and site assessment reports.
• Assist with installation, start-up, and commissioning of Tridium/Niagara BAS.
• Support basic programming, graphics, schedules, alarms, trends, and point mapping.
• Perform point-to-point verification and functional testing during project delivery.
• Troubleshoot controls hardware, wiring, network connectivity, and device communication.
• Coordinate with teams and customers to support field work and schedules.
• Maintain project documentation, including redlines and as-built notes.
• Follow safety, cybersecurity, access, and site procedures in active facilities.
• Participate in hands-on training to build skills in DDC and Niagara platforms.
