Job summary

Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in Washington State seeks a Bridge Maintenance Engineer (CE3) to lead inspection and maintenance of the South Puget Sound region's bridges. You will coordinate with heavy equipment operators, contractors, and agencies to plan and execute bridge replacements, replacements, and maintenance projects, and mentor engineers through design and contracting phases.

Requires a civil/forest engineering degree, 4 years in bridge design, 3 years contracting experience,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Forest or Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• 4 years of engineering design/bridge experience with 5 fish-passable crossings or equivalent.
• 3 years of public works contracting experience and knowledge of Washington contracting laws.
• Experience with site mapping and surveying principles using topographic equipment.

Responsibilities

• Annually inspect region bridges per L&I and WACs and open to the public.
• Maintain bridge inventory, inspections, and database; update load ratings and signage.
• Plan, design, and coordinate maintenance/repairs for bridges and culverts.
• Assist region timber sales and road maintenance programs with engineering expertise.
• Coordinate contract preparation and administration for projects.
• Support ROW assessments and FEMA response for the region.
• Act as Project Manager for Rock Pit Leasing.
