Job summary

WSP is seeking Field Biologists/Environmental Monitors in New York to support multiple biological surveys and environmental compliance projects planned in New York State. This is a full-time temporary hourly position.

Candidates local to New York are ideal due to work location and scheduling needs, but all qualified applicants will be considered. The role is a full-time hourly position with an expected 40 hours per week, though more hours may be available based on project needs.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in biology, ecology, environmental science, or closely related field (required).
• 2+ years of environmental monitoring or utility permitting experience (required).
• Willingness to travel to project sites and work in various weather conditions (required).

Responsibilities

• Assist with multiple biological field surveys and environmental compliance tasks.
• Conduct EM & CP reviews for utility transmission projects.
• Perform site visits to project locations with construction managers.
• Record field data using standardized forms: species observations, habitats, environmental conditions.
• Follow survey protocols and contribute to high-quality data collection.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary field team and uphold safety policies.
