Job summary

WSP is seeking Field Biologists/Environmental Monitors to support multiple biological surveys and environmental compliance projects in New York State. This full-time temporary hourly position requires 40 hours per week with potential for more based on project needs.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in biology, ecology, environmental science, or a closely related field.
• 2+ years of prior environmental monitoring or utility permitting experience.
• Ability to conduct fieldwork in all weather conditions and follow established protocols.
• Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proactive, detail-oriented with multi-tasking in dynamic environments.
• Ability to travel to project sites as required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with multiple biological field surveys and environmental compliance tasks.
• Conduct EM & CP reviews for utility transmission projects.
• Perform site visits with construction managers to assess project needs.
• Record field data using standardized forms including species observations and habitat characteristics.
• Follow survey protocols and contribute to high-quality data collection.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary field team and adhere to the Code of Conduct.
