Job summary

SEIU 32BJ in the New York metro area seeks an Organizer to support workers in forming a union. You will conduct outreach at worksites and homes, build trust, and identify leaders to guide organizing campaigns.

The role involves group meetings, public actions, and coordinating with a team to apply pressure for industry-wide change. Experience in labor organizing and a strong commitment to social justice are essential; driving is required and vehicle access is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in labor union organizing is required.
• A demonstrated commitment to social justice is required.
• Ability to set and deliver on personal goals within organizing campaigns.
• Willingness to travel to worksites and events; driving may be required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct broad outreach to non-union workers at worksites and in their communities.
• Build one-on-one relationships with workers and establish trust.
• Identify and develop worksite leaders to guide campaigns and organize committees.
• Lead group meetings to discuss and plan organizing campaigns and actions.
• Motivate workers to participate in public actions and workplace campaigns.
• Engage workers in broader union efforts to pressure industries.
