Job summary

SEIU USWW seeks an Organizing professional to help recruit and mobilize thousands of California workers to join the union. You will educate and energize members, support campaigns, and coordinate actions across sites, campaigns and committees.

Travel and irregular hours are required. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. The role offers a full benefits package and opportunities to influence social and economic justice locally.

Qualifications

• Equivalent experience in labor and community organizing.
• Graduation from an accredited college or university in a relevant field.

Responsibilities

• Educate, agitate and motivate workers into action.
• Identify, recruit, train and develop worker leaders, stewards and worker-led committees.
• Contribute to campaign planning & execution with organizers, communicators & researchers.
• Plan, mobilize and turnout for worksite actions, union events, marches, etc.
• Conduct one-on-ones, site visits and worker-led committee meetings.
• Maintain database with information on worksites, workers and assignments.
• Prepare and manage workplans, calendars, files and records.
• Engage members in union political programs and activity.
