Job summary

APEX Investigation is seeking a Field Training Officer (FTO) to lead end-to-end field development of newly hired Surveillance Investigators, from orientation through solo certification. This role owns the training pipeline and conducts structured field training with daily evaluations, ensuring new trainees reach the standard of a fully competent solo Investigator.

Reports to the COO. Location: 2424 K Street, Sacramento, CA (field-based with regional travel 40–60%).

Qualifications

• Structured, competency-based training program design experience.
• Experience supervising field trainees and evaluating performance.
• Knowledge of surveillance methodology and equipment.
• Ability to obtain/maintain BSIS registration or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Own the full training pipeline for newly hired Surveillance Investigators from orientation through solo certification (90–180 day ramp).
• Ride with trainees in the field; supervise, train, and reinforce surveillance discipline and procedures.
• Train on field equipment and required software; ensure compliance with documentation standards.
• Complete daily evaluations and progress trainees to competency-based milestones before solo certification.
• Identify gaps and provide remediation; escalate when standards aren’t met.
