Job summary

Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) – Division of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) seeks a Consultation Operations Safety Specialist (OSHPRO3) to join the Consultation, Education and Outreach team. This statewide role provides technical safety guidance, conducts on-site evaluations, and leads voluntary programs to strengthen workplace safety across Washington.

Flexible scheduling and occasional telework support the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene, or related field.
• Experience in safety and health inspections or regulatory work is valued.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety expertise, consultation, training, and presentations.
• Lead statewide programs (VPP, Safety Excellence, Challenge, Minor Variance, Self-Insurance Evaluations).
• Lead onsite evaluations and assess safety programs with DOSH professionals.
• Review applications, perform QA audits, and help address hazards.
• Build relationships with employers, industry groups, and safety professionals.
• Assist in developing safety programs and materials.
• Represent DOSH at conferences and outreach events.
