Sperry Rail, Inc. is seeking a YTV Trainee to join our field operations team. The role requires extensive travel across eastern and western US to operate the Yard Testing Vehicle and support portable inspection operations.

You will assist with equipment setup, testing, and daily reporting while maintaining safety and compliance standards. This training position starts at $20.00 per hour and leads to a $60,000 annual base salary after promotion to YTV Operator; travel and lodging are paid by

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Card.
• Mechanical aptitude required.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills.
• DOT physical, drug screen, and background check may be required.
• Extensive travel opportunities.
• Paid training pay is $20.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Operate the Yard Testing Vehicle (YTV) testing system.
• Perform manual testing of potential defect locations.
• Operate the B-Scan portable walking stick system as needed.
• Drive truck and trailer to multiple testing locations daily (DOT Medical Card required).
• Complete daily pre‑trip inspection forms and submit DOT logs as required.
• Maintain and transmit daily test reports and expense reports.
