Job summary

BRC is seeking a part-time Social Worker Assistant to join a two-person field-based team serving New York shelters. You will work with shelter staff to support clients with substance use disorders, providing education on NARCAN, harm reduction, and safe-use practices.

The role involves engaging clients during meals/recreation, escorting to service providers, documenting progress, and collaborating with the Field Based Social Worker.

Qualifications

• H.S. diploma or GED and CRPA certificate required.
• Knowledge of OASAS rules and regulations; maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Bilingual preferred; basic computer literacy required.

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients in assigned shelter and provide guidance with the social worker.
• Educate clients on NARCAN, harm reduction, and safe-use practices.
• Engage clients during meals and recreation to support wellbeing.
• Escort clients to SUD service providers, including harm-reduction services.
• Attend community meetings and collect data; write progress notes.
• Report to the Field Based Social Worker and build rapport with shelter staff.
• Provide emergency first aid/CPR when needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
