Job summary

Merck is seeking an Oncology Regional Medical Scientific Director (RMSD) to lead scientific exchange with external medical leaders, provide research support for investigator-sponsored and company-sponsored trials, and address scientific questions. This role emphasizes non-promotional, balanced scientific information and collaboration to advance oncology programs.

Qualifications

• Clinical (patient care) or deep research experience in assigned therapeutic area(s) beyond degree program.
• A minimum of 3 years' experience and proven therapeutic competence in oncology.
• Ability to conduct doctoral level discussions with external stakeholders.
• Strong focus on scientific education and dialogue.
• Business and market knowledge, including quality management.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and networking skills.
• Understanding of FDA, OIG, HIPAA and related guidelines.
• Organizational skills to manage changing priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Develop professional relationships with national and regional scientific leaders to share medical information.
• Conduct peer-to-peer scientific discussions and maintain a medical contact within the company.
• Support Company-Sponsored Trials to enhance understanding and patient enrollment.
• Initiate discussions with potential investigators to assess interest and qualifications.
• Recommend study sites to GCTO/Clinical Research.
• Respond to investigators' requests for information regarding participation in studies.
• Educate and train to maintain current knowledge of dynamic scientific environment.
• Direct inquiries on issues outside RMSD scope to appropriate resources.
• Serve as a resource for identifying potential investigators for phase II-IV programs.
• Provide high-level information on Investigator Study Program processes.
• Attend scientific and medical meetings.
