Job summary

Environmental Resources Management (ERM) seeks a Lead Environmental Compliance Manager (Owner’s Advisor) to oversee environmental compliance for hyperscale data center projects across Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, and beyond. You will translate permit conditions into practical on-site actions and coordinate with project teams to embed compliance into construction practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of environmental experience on large construction or capital projects.
• Experience as owner-side environmental leader.
• Strong knowledge of stormwater, spill prevention, waste management, air and dust controls.
• Hyperscale data center construction experience preferred.
• Willingness to travel extensively.

Responsibilities

• Provide owner-side environmental compliance leadership across the project, ensuring alignment with applicable local, state, and federal requirements and client expectations.
• Establish and maintain a project-specific environmental compliance framework to guide CM and contractor execution.
• Maintain strong field presence to validate environmental controls and permit obligations.
• Coach CM and contractor teams on findings, gaps, and risks, driving timely corrective actions.
• Identify, assess, and prioritize environmental risks, recommending mitigation strategies.
• Support development and continuous improvement of project environmental plans and procedures.
• Partner with client environmental SMEs to ensure alignment with permits and reporting.
• Develop, track, and communicate environmental performance metrics to leadership.
• Participate in environmental incident investigations and preventive actions.
• Coordinate with waste vendors and site teams for compliant waste handling.
• Support chemical inventory management and regulatory reporting.
• Serve as primary contact for environmental questions in changing scopes or site conditions.
• Support environmental readiness for startup and commissioning.
