Job summary

The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management (OEM) is hiring an Area Coordinator to support the Southeast region. This full‑time role is field based, operating across Oklahoma with the OEM SE region.

The position involves consultative services, grant administration, and emergency management planning with local and tribal jurisdictions, and requires a bachelor’s degree plus related experience. OEM offers a structured Civil Service framework, travel as needed, and a path for professional growth

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration or urban planning.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• One year of qualifying emergency planning or disaster recovery experience may substitute for education.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with FEMA program delivery managers and agency divisions to administer grant programs.
• Provide meetings with applicants and FEMA personnel during declarations and document resources.
• Assist local, tribal, and state personnel with damage assessments after disasters.
• Support training, exercises, and grant documentation and reporting.
• Perform technical planning and provide guidance to local jurisdictions on emergency management.
