Job summary

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 1–2 years in utility locating, underground construction, damage prevention, or related field.
• Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Monitor excavation activities to ensure safety and within utility tolerance zones.
• Verify presence, accuracy, and adherence to utility locates before and during excavation.
• Coordinate with contractors to schedule monitoring for high-risk excavation work.
• Identify potential conflicts between excavation activities and underground infrastructure.
• Document field observations, findings, and compliance through photographs and notes.
• Ensure excavation practices comply with safety regulations and 811 requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of excavation monitoring activities and site visits.
• Communicate safety concerns to supervisors and project stakeholders.
• Participate in pre-construction meetings for high-risk projects.
• Serve as field representative supporting damage prevention initiatives.
• Travel within assigned territory as required.
