Role Description

The Damage Prevention Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Montrose, CO. This role is responsible for identifying, monitoring, and mitigating risks to underground utilities and energy infrastructure. Day-to-day duties include conducting utility locates and marking utilities, documenting site conditions, and communicating with contractors, landowners, and operations personnel to prevent excavation-related damage. The role also involves responding to tickets or work orders, using mapping tools and collaborating with project teams to ensure safe and efficient field activities.

Qualifications
  • Field operations and inspection skills and including utility locating.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps, drawings, and work orders, with basic proficiency in GPS or GIS tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with contractors, landowners, and internal teams.
  • Solid organizational and documentation skills, including accurate reporting, recordkeeping, and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to safety practices, regulatory compliance, and following company procedures in field environments.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain, and to perform moderate physical tasks.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record for regular travel to field locations.
  • Prior experience in utilities, energy infrastructure, construction, or damage prevention is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or certifications in utility locating or safety are a plus.
