Job summary

James & Whitney Co. is seeking an Assistant Project Manager (APM) to join our field-based team in Maine. You will travel between active job sites, working with Project Managers, subcontractors, and customers to keep projects on track and up to safety standards.

This hands-on role provides direct mentorship from experienced leaders, a focus on timely delivery, and a clear path toward becoming a Project Manager. A company vehicle is provided and daily outdoor work is expected.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and ability to drive between sites.
• Comfortable with heavy lifting and outdoor work.
• Ability to communicate effectively with crews, customers and managers.
• Willingness to travel between active job sites throughout the day.
• Capable of adapting quickly in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Positive, proactive attitude and strong problem-solving mindset.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the on-site point of contact for crews, customers, and deliveries.
• Travel between active job sites throughout the day to support project operations.
• Ensure materials are on-site and projects stay on schedule.
• Monitor installation quality and maintain clean, safe job sites.
• Oversee subcontracted crews to ensure work is safe and to spec.
• Provide real-time progress updates to the Project Manager.
• Capture project documentation through photos and notes.
• Verify weather-tightness and site cleanup at day end and completion.
• Assist with material deliveries, waste disposal, and equipment coordination.
• Represent the company professionally with customers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
