Job summary

Lingo Professional in Chesapeake/Richmond, VA is seeking an experienced Building Automation Controls Technician/Engineer for a direct-hire, field-based role serving Virginia facilities including schools, healthcare, and municipal buildings. You will troubleshoot BAS and HVAC controls, read drawings, and diagnose across controls, electrical and mechanical systems.

You will operate with a company truck, laptop, and cell phone, traveling primarily within Virginia and earning competitive hourly pay

Qualifications

• Experience with Building Automation Systems, HVAC controls or DDC controls.
• Working knowledge of commercial HVAC systems and equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot across controls, electrical and mechanical systems to identify the true source of a problem.
• Familiarity with BAS platforms such as Honeywell, Trane, Johnson Controls, Siemens or similar systems.
• Ability to read control drawings, schematics and sequences of operation.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and service Building Automation Systems and HVAC controls.
• Diagnose whether system issues originate with the controls, electrical components or mechanical HVAC equipment.
• Connect to customer BAS systems using a laptop to remotely diagnose alarms and system problems.
• Troubleshoot controllers, sensors, actuators, dampers and other field devices.
• Work with graphical interfaces, sequences of operation and control programming to identify system issues.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on building automation and control systems.
• Run and verify sequences of operation to ensure systems are functioning properly.
• Read control drawings, electrical schematics and system documentation.
• Commission and verify controls following service, repairs or system changes.
• Work directly with customers and facility personnel to explain issues and recommended solutions.
• Coordinate with HVAC service technicians and other technical resources when mechanical repairs are required.
• Participate in ongoing technical and safety training.
