Job summary

Tetra Tech Digital Systems in Oklahoma City seeks an Automation Technician to support client facilities and field assignments across Oklahoma. You will troubleshoot automation and instrumentation, calibrate field devices, connect to Allen-Bradley PLCs, and use AVEVA InTouch for troubleshooting.

Ideal candidates have hands-on experience with PLCs, instrumentation, and industrial networks, plus the ability to travel and work independently at client sites.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certificate in Instrumentation, Electrical Technology, Automation, or related discipline.
• Three or more years of hands-on automation, controls, instrumentation, or I&E field experience.
• Experience in oil & gas, pipeline, or industrial facilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot automation, instrumentation, electrical control, PLC, HMI, and communication issues at operating facilities.
• Configure, calibrate, test, and verify field instrumentation and end devices (pressure, flow, temp, level), switches and valves.
• Connect to Allen-Bradley PLC systems to monitor logic, diagnose faults, and make minor program modifications as allowed.
• Use AVEVA InTouch HMI to locate tags, alarms, trends, status indications, and process values for troubleshooting.
• Perform loop checks, point-to-point checks, functional testing, startup support, and commissioning activities.
• Diagnose 4-20 mA, discrete I/O, analog I/O, power-supply, wiring, grounding, and basic network issues.
• Read and interpret P&IDs, loop drawings, wiring diagrams, I/O lists, control narratives, and electrical schematics.
• Coordinate with client operations, maintenance, engineering, and project teams to restore equipment safely.
• Document troubleshooting findings, calibration results, PLC/HMI changes, and field-service activities.
• Follow site safety requirements, client standards, permit procedures, and MOC requirements.
• Travel from Oklahoma City area to client sites throughout Oklahoma, including overnight and after-hours support.
