Job summary

Tetra Tech Digital Systems is looking for a full-time automation engineer to join our team focused on improving industrial efficiencies in West Texas and New Mexico. You will install, troubleshoot, and maintain control systems, while supporting field operations and documentation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in automation, controls, instrumentation, or I&E.
• Experience with PLCs, RTUs, SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop drawings, and electrical schematics.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, and maintain automation, instrumentation, electrical, and control systems.
• Configure and support PLC, RTU, HMI, and SCADA platforms.
• Perform startup, commissioning, and field support for new and existing facilities.
• Troubleshoot industrial communication networks and control systems.
• Calibrate and maintain process instrumentation, including flow, pressure, temperature, and level devices.
• Support system improvements, documentation, and on-call response activities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of automation, controls, instrumentation, or I&E experience in oil & gas or industrial operations.
• Experience with PLCs, RTUs, SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols.
• Knowledge of Emerson ROC, ABB Totalflow, SCADAPack, Allen-Bradley, Ignition, CygNet, VTScada, or similar platforms.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop drawings, one-lines, and electrical schematics.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to travel and support field operations throughout West Texas and New Mexico.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation, Automation, Electrical Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience supporting production facilities, compressor stations, pipelines, processing plants, or measurement facilities.
• ISA, NCCER, or other industry certifications.
