Job summary

Crescent Energy in Texas is seeking an Automation Technician II to install, test, and maintain automation systems across field production sites. You will work with PLCs, RTUs, SCADA components, instrumentation, and communication networks, ensuring reliable operations and quick issue resolution.

You will diagnose complex control problems remotely and on-site, document changes, and collaborate with Electrical and Instrumentation teams to support new wells and facility integrations while upholding

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in oil and gas field automation, instrumentation, or related field.
• Troubleshoot PLC/RTU/SCADA and instrumentation issues independently.
• Read electrical diagrams, P&IDs, and control schematics.
• Work independently in remote field locations and travel to sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, test, and commission PLCs, RTUs, SCADA components, instrumentation, and related communications equipment at field production sites and facilities.
• Independently diagnose and repair complex automation, control, instrumentation, and communications issues remotely and on-site; use structured troubleshooting to identify root causes.
• Perform approved PLC, RTU, HMI, alarm, and communications configuration changes in accordance with safety procedures.
• Coordinate with Electrical and Instrumentation teams to verify sensor, transmitter, actuator, and control wiring installations.
• Document work performed, update control logic diagrams and system records, and maintain configuration backups.
• Ensure automation work complies with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements; escalate when needed.
• Provide field-level technical guidance to Automation Technician I personnel and contractors.
