Job summary

Tecan Austria GmbH in Chicago seeks an Associate Field Automation Engineer to provide field-based technical support for liquid handling automation platforms, performing preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs. You will install, verify systems, train customers, document service activities, and travel up to 70% to support installations and service globally.

This role requires strong troubleshooting skills and collaboration across the service team.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a life science or engineering field.
Experience supporting laboratory automation and liquid handling systems.
Hands-on capability with automated instrumentation and field service.
Strong troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair skills.
Willingness to travel up to 70% and reside near Chicago area.

Responsibilities

Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on Liquid Handling automation platforms to ensure reliable instrument performance.
Provide field-based technical support for automated laboratory instrumentation, including diagnostics, troubleshooting, corrective actions, and system recovery.
Support instrument installations, system verification, qualification activities, and customer acceptance processes.
Partner with Field Automation Engineers and customers to identify technical challenges and deliver effective solutions.
Travel extensively to support customer installations, preventive maintenance visits, repairs, troubleshooting, and service activities.
