Job summary

Ascend is seeking a Field Engineer to lead and support field commissioning, startup, and integration of industrial automation systems in customer environments. You will diagnose issues, verify PLC/HMI, and collaborate with engineering teams to ensure smooth handovers.

This role requires about 90% travel to sites, reading electrical schematics, and working in manufacturing facilities. You will create detailed commissioning and FAT/SAT documentation, and provide operator training as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent hands-on experience in electrical/controls engineering.
• 3+ years in industrial automation and commissioning.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
• Travel and customer-facing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and/or support field commissioning and startup of automation systems.
• Verify PLC, HMI, motion control, and safety systems in the field.
• Troubleshoot controls, electrical, and networking issues during commissioning.
• Document field changes and update as-built drawings.
• Support FAT/SAT and production ramp-up activities.
• Provide operator training when required.
