Job summary

TYPSA, Inc. in the United States is seeking Archaeological Excavation Specialists for our Phoenix and Tucson offices. The role involves assisting with fieldwork, testing and data recovery, and supporting project teams.

Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in anthropology/archaeology or equivalent, field school completion, CRM experience, and the ability to carry equipment and work in rugged conditions. Relocation to Phoenix or Tucson area is preferred; travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in anthropology or archaeology, or equivalent experience
• Completion of an academic-sponsored field school
• 1 year of CRM experience
• 6 months of data recovery excavation at prehistoric sites
• Ability to generate and maintain field records per standards
• Ability to work independently or in a team; strong initiative
• Valid driver's license and insurability
• Ability to perform fieldwork in adverse conditions and carry up to 25 pounds

Responsibilities

• Conduct archaeological fieldwork, primarily excavation (testing and data recovery)
• Complete accurate field forms and maps
• Participate in artifact processing and data entry
• Use a tablet, compass, trowel, shovel, pick, hula hoe, and screen
• Assist with lab work
• Assist with preparation of technical reports
• Perform site file searches at federal, state, tribal, and private repositories
• Communicate effectively with team members and the public
• Travel for overnight or out-of-state stays if required
