Job summary

Stantec's Cultural Resources team seeks an Archaeological Field Lead to manage surveys, testing, data recovery, and monitoring from Riverview, FL, Alpharetta GA, or Mobile AL. This full-time, temporary, project-based position requires extensive travel and may deploy up to three months at a time.

The role offers potential conversion to a permanent position after project completion. Candidates must have a BA/BS in anthropology/archaeology, field school, and at least three years of

Qualifications

• B.A./B.S. in anthropology/archaeology or related field.
• Successful completion of an archaeology field school.
• At least 3 years of experience conducting archaeological survey and excavation.
• At least 1 year of supervisory field experience.
• Knowledge of Phase I, II, and III archaeological excavations/assessments required.
• Knowledge of prehistoric and historic material culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead archaeological field surveys and fieldwork tasks.
• Oversee crew during surveys.
• Use field methods: survey, testing, excavation, monitoring.
• Record, interpret field data.
• Map site plans and shovel tests.
• Identify artifacts and cultural features.
• Prepare site surfaces for mapping and photography.
• Assist with laboratory analysis and reporting.
• Coordinate property entry with right of way agents.
