Qualifications

  • At least 6 months of experience in conducting archaeological survey and excavation.
  • Knowledge of prehistoric and historic material culture.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in remote areas.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct archaeological survey, testing, data recovery, and monitoring.
  • Perform controlled surface survey, shovel test survey, and excavation.
  • Clean, catalog, photograph, and label artifacts from excavations.

Skills

Experience with inventory, survey, testing, and/or data recovery
Mapping equipment and special application equipment knowledge
Strong oral and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
Detail oriented, resourceful, self-motivated
Positive and energetic attitude

Education

B.A./B.S. in anthropology/archaeology or related field
Successful completion of an archaeology field school
