Job summary

TYPSA, Inc. seeks Archaeological Excavation Specialists for our Phoenix and Tucson offices. The role focuses on testing and data recovery, requiring fieldwork readiness and the ability to live in or relocate to the Phoenix or Tucson area.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in anthropology or archaeology, 1+ year CRM experience, field school completion, and strong documentation skills. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in anthropology, archaeology, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Completion of an academic-sponsored field school.
• 1+ year CRM experience.
• 6 months data recovery excavation experience at prehistoric sites.
• Knowledge of field methods and recording
• Ability to carry up to 25 pounds and work in rugged environments.
• Strong communication skills; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Conduct archaeological fieldwork, primarily excavation (testing and data recovery).
• Prepare accurate field forms and maps.
• Assist with artifact processing and data entry.
• Use basic field tools and equipment.
• Assist with lab work and technical reports.
• Perform site file research at multiple repositories.
• Travel may be required, including overnight stays.
