Job summary

TYPSA, Inc. seeks an Archaeological Excavation Specialist for Phoenix/Tucson offices. Role focuses on field excavation, testing and data recovery, with travel to various sites in Arizona. Candidates must relocate or reside in the Phoenix/Tucson metro area.

Responsibilities include field data collection, artifact handling, and contributing to technical report preparation. Strong team collaboration and field safety are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in anthropology or archaeology or equivalent experience.
• Completion of an academic-sponsored field school.
• Minimum 1 year CRM experience.
• At least 6 months data recovery excavation experience.
• Understanding of archaeological field methods.
• Ability to maintain accurate field records meeting standards.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel, including overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Conduct excavation projects (testing and data recovery) across AZ.
• Complete standard field forms and maps.
• Participate in artifact processing and data entry.
• Use a tablet, compass, trowel, shovel, pick, hula hoe, and screen.
• Assist with lab work and preparation of technical reports.
• Perform site file research at repositories.
• Communicate effectively with team and the public.
• Travel for extended periods as required.
