Job summary

DAVEY RESOURCE GROUP, a division of The Davey Tree Expert Company, is seeking an UVM Technician to support forestry and vegetation management for utility clients. Responsibilities include data collection on handheld devices, GPS navigation, and coordinating with landowners and project teams.

Candidates should have a background in horticulture/forestry, ISA Arborist credential or intent to obtain, pesticide license, and GIS experience. On-site work with travel up to 25% across the US may apply.

Qualifications

• Two or four year degree in horticulture, forestry, urban forestry, environmental science or a related discipline
• ISA Certified Arborist or ability to obtain in 6–12 months
• Commercial Pesticide Applicator's License
• Current Driver's License and driving record in good standing
• Proficient with Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint
• Experience with GIS or other digital mapping software

Responsibilities

• Work with major utility systems to address its forestry needs
• Collect and enter data on handheld devices using maps and GPS
• Communicate with landowners about projects on or near their property
• Audit contractor work for quality and compliance
• Negotiate line-clearance crew access issues
• Handle special projects as assigned
• Coordinate with clients, project managers, planners and vegetation crews
• Inspect utility rights of way for vegetation conflicts with regulations
