Job summary

MVTec Software GmbH in the Greater Boston area is seeking a Field Application Engineer with a passion for machine vision to design and implement solutions for customers using HALCON and MERLIC. You will partner with customers as a technical contact, support pre-sales demonstrations, run trainings, and collaborate with product and engineering teams.

A balanced mix of on-site and remote work is offered, with up to 25% travel.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, physics, electrical engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Minimum of five years of relevant professional experience.
Proven software development experience in C, C++, or .NET.
Comfort with Windows and Linux environments.
Strong understanding of image processing or deep learning.
Familiarity with imaging components such as lighting, optics, cameras and 3D sensors.
Hands-on experience building machine vision systems in factory automation.
Experience with HALCON or MERLIC is a plus.
Willingness to travel up to ~25%.

Responsibilities

Partner closely with customers to design and implement machine vision solutions using MVTec’s software platform.
Act as a technical contact and guide customers to optimize performance of their applications.
Contribute to software development projects and collaborate with internal teams on technical initiatives.
Deliver technical trainings and seminars for customers and partners, remotely and on-site.
Evaluate customer applications with the sales team and conduct feasibility studies to support new opportunities.
Present tailored demonstrations and address technical questions from engineering audiences during pre-sales.
