Job summary

MVTec Software GmbH, a leader in industrial image processing, seeks a Field Application Engineer for the Greater Boston area. You will design and implement machine vision solutions with MVTec’s software, collaborating with customers and internal teams to optimize performance.

The role requires at least five years of experience in software and vision, strong C/C++/NET skills, and familiarity with Windows and Linux. Travel up to 25% and hybrid work arrangements are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical field (CS/Physics/EE).
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Proven software development experience (C, C++, .NET).
• Comfort working in Windows and Linux environments.
• Strong understanding of image processing, deep learning or related fields.
• Familiarity with imaging components (lighting, optics, cameras, 3D sensors).
• Hands-on experience developing machine vision systems, especially in factory automation.
• Experience with HALCON or MERLIC is a plus.
• Willingness to travel up to ~25%.

Responsibilities

• Partner with customers to design and implement machine vision solutions using MVTec software.
• Act as a technical contact, guiding customers to optimize performance of applications.
• Contribute to software development projects and collaborate on technical initiatives.
• Deliver technical trainings and seminars for customers and partners, remotely or on-site.
• Evaluate customer applications and conduct feasibility studies to support new opportunities.
• Present tailored demonstrations and answer technical questions from engineering audiences.
