Job summary

Sterling St James LLC is seeking an Applications Engineer in the Rochester, MN area to drive technical solutions and regional sales for industrial fluid and water treatment. The role offers a base salary of $75,000–$125,000 plus uncapped commissions and full benefits.

The successful candidate will manage a SE Minnesota territory, perform field assessments, design custom chemical delivery and treatment systems, and guide complex capital sales from prospecting through closing.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering.
3+ years in technical B2B sales or consultative engineering.
Industrial water treatment, boilers, or fluid handling understanding.
Proven sales goals achievement in technical markets.
Willingness to travel SE Minnesota and manage a regional footprint.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary technical consultant and Territory Manager for SE Minnesota.
Conduct technical field assessments for manufacturing plants and facilities.
Evaluate water chemistry metrics and process specs to design treatment systems.
Collaborate with plant leadership to engineer upgrades and control systems.
Lead the full sales cycle from prospecting to closing and account growth.
Maintain organized field travel schedule across SE Minnesota.
