The Field Applications Engineer will join a global team to engage Tier 1 customers, help develop and drive design-ins, and work with Sales, R&D, and Product Management to deliver cutting-edge cloud and data center solutions.

This role requires strong technical expertise in coherent optical modules, DSPs, firmware interfaces, and familiarity with Ethernet and Infiniband.

Qualifications

• Degree in the physical sciences, electrical engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years engineering experience designing/developing or testing coherent optical modules and components, preferably active products, and specifically DSPs, receivers, modulators and lasers.
• Direct experience in product development and NPI processes with either an optical components/modules company or a system OEM.
• Practical working knowledge of transceiver hardware including both specification and test of firmware/hardware interfaces.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
• Familiarity with device firmware structure & functionality is a strong positive.
• Familiar with CMIS, C-CMIS, Ethernet, Infiniband
• Familiar with Arista, Cisco, and Nvidia platforms
• Familiar with Python
• Ability to speak/understand English is required; written skills emphasized

Responsibilities

• Negotiate technical specifications and performance trade-offs with customers.
• Participate in customer design reviews and respond to RFIs/RFQs.
• Work with sales to collect requirements and use cases.
• Bring up transceiver modules at customer sites and develop solutions for design-in.
• Create primary customer product documentation and test/validation plans.
• Coordinate PCN processes with customers and engineering.
• Participate in Failure Analysis and corrective action activities.
