Beckman Coulter Life Sciences is seeking a Field Application Specialist – Flow Cytometry/Hematology to provide scientific and application support across African markets. You will help laboratories adopt and optimize our solutions, build users’ confidence and work with sales and service teams to deliver an outstanding customer experience.

We welcome candidates with flow cytometry experience or strong hematology backgrounds and relevant lab or application support exposure who want to grow in flow

Qualifications

• University degree in biology, biomedical sciences, medical laboratory sciences, medicine, chemistry, physics or related discipline.
• Several years of practical experience in flow cytometry and/or hematology.
• Practical knowledge of multicolor flow cytometry, sample preparation and data analysis for flow cytometry candidates.
• Hematology-focused experience welcome, especially lab workflows and analyzer operation.
• Immunology, customer training or technical application support is a plus.
• Strong communication and presentation skills for varied audiences.
• Collaborative, customer-focused approach with strong problem-solving.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Based in Johannesburg or Centurion, SA with airport access.
• Willingness to travel up to 70% nationally/internationally.
• Valid category B driver’s license.

Your role

As a Field Application Specialist – Flow Cytometry/Hematology , you will provide scientific and application support to customers and channel partners across African markets. You will help laboratories adopt and optimize our solutions, build users’ confidence and work closely with commercial and service teams to deliver a strong customer experience.

We welcome candidates with experience in flow cytometry as well as those with a strong hematology background and relevant laboratory or application support experience who are keen to develop their expertise in flow cytometry.

Your responsibilities

• Provide expert advice and application support to existing and prospective customers on flow cytometry analyzers, reagents and software used in clinical research and routine diagnostics.

• Deliver instrument and reagent demonstrations, customer training and workflow assessments to help laboratories use our solutions effectively.

• Support customers with sample preparation, instrument operation and data analysis, ensuring guidance is appropriate to their applications and workflows.

• Work closely with sales colleagues to understand customer needs, demonstrate the value of our solutions and support business growth.

• Help customers implement new applications and collaborate with service colleagues to troubleshoot application and performance issues.

• Support and develop channel partners through application guidance, product demonstrations and technical training across African countries.

• Represent Beckman Coulter Life Sciences at exhibitions, scientific meetings and workshops.

• Share customer feedback and market insights with internal teams to strengthen customer support and identify opportunities for improvement.

Your background and experience

• A university degree in biology, biomedical sciences, medical laboratory sciences, medicine, chemistry, physics or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional training.

• Several years of practical experience in flow cytometry and/or hematology , gained in a laboratory, clinical, research or application support environment.

• For candidates with flow cytometry experience, practical knowledge of multicolor flow cytometry, sample preparation and data analysis.

• Candidates whose experience is primarily in hematology are also encouraged to apply , particularly those with strong knowledge of laboratory workflows, analyzer operation, troubleshooting and interpretation of laboratory results.

• Experience in immunology, customer training or technical application support would be an advantage.

• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain scientific concepts clearly to different audiences.

• A collaborative, customer-focused approach and strong problem-solving skills.

• Excellent written and spoken English.

• Based in Johannesburg or Centurion, South Africa, with convenient access to an international airport.

• Willingness to travel nationally and internationally up to 70% of the time.

• A valid category B driver’s license.
