Job summary

SCN - Search Consulting Network is seeking an Application Engineer – Industrial/Electrical in the Dallas area. The role combines electrical engineering with hands-on industrial automation and field applications, with extensive travel to customer sites.

You will configure and test data acquisition setups, work with PLCs/PLCs and motors, and support customers from demonstrations to implementation, communicating results to engineering teams.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of hands-on field, applications, electrical, controls, automation, or test engineering experience.
• 2- or 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation/Controls, Mechatronics, or related STEM discipline.
• Strong understanding of 3-phase electrical circuits and industrial electrical systems.
• Experience with signal conditioning, high-voltage transducers, current clamps, Rogowski coils, encoders, and sensor signals.
• Hands-on experience with VFDs and PLCs, including Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of industrial communication architectures such as CAN, Modbus, OPC UA, and EtherCAT.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical expert supporting industrial automation, electrical testing, and measurement applications.
• Work with automation engineers, system integrators, and OEM teams to understand testing requirements.
• Configure multi-channel Data Acquisition systems for VFD efficiency, motor testing, transient logging, and dynamic signal analysis.
• Conduct hands-on customer demonstrations and proof-of-concept testing.
• Connect measurement equipment to VFDs, PLCs, encoders, sensors, and electrical systems in real-world environments.
• Integrate high-speed data acquisition with plant-floor automation and control systems.
• Provide feedback to Product Development and R&D teams to influence future hardware/software capabilities.
