Job summary

Broadcom is seeking a Field Application Engineer to lead the optical component business for key module customers in Chengdu. You will collaborate with Business Unit and Sales teams to promote and validate PAM4 DSP, high-speed lasers, and PD solutions.

You will own the full technical lifecycle with customers, drive Design-Win projects, and provide on-site support, while coordinating with R&D and engineering teams to optimize performance and product qualification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Optical Communication, Optoelectronics or related engineering majors.
• 10+ years in optical communication industry with semiconductor optical component experience.
• Deep understanding of IEEE, CMIS, OIF standards; familiarity with data center and AI network architectures.
• Proficient with professional optical test instruments (DCA, scope, BERT, Ethernet tester).
• Solid knowledge of optical module software/hardware design and DSP-related PCB/layout.
• In-depth DSP architecture knowledge; strong debugging and optimization skills.
• Willingness to travel frequently for on-site customer support.

As a Broadcom Field Application Engineer (FAE), you will be the technical authority leading our optical component business for key optical module customers in Chengdu. You will partner closely with the Business Unit and Sales teams to promote and validate our comprehensive optical solutions, including PAM4 DSP, high-speed lasers (VCSEL/EML/DFB) and PD .

Key Responsibilities:

1. Own the full lifecycle of technical support for assigned optical module customers in Chengdu.

2. Execute and align local customer strategies with the company’s business and product roadmap.

3. Drive Design-Win projects through cross-functional collaboration with Sales and BU teams.

4. Manage day-to-day technical communications with R&D and engineering teams of customers.

5. Enable customer designs by providing deep expertise in our optical components.

6. Lead on-site technical support for debug, performance optimization, and product qualification.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering (EE), Optical Communication, Optoelectronics or related engineering majors.

2. 10 or more years of progressive working experience in the optical communication industry, with a proven track record in supporting semiconductor optical component business.

3. Profound expertise and in-depth understanding of IEEE, CMIS, OIF and other optical communication industry standards. Solid professional knowledge of optical communication systems; familiarity with data center architecture and AI network architecture is a distinct advantage.

4. Proficient in operating various professional optical test instruments such as DCA, scope, BERT, Ethernet tester. Be capable of using test equipment for product performance testing, parameter calibration and fault analysis.

5. Solid knowledge of optical module software design, hardware design and PCB layout design, especially related to DSP. Familiar with the whole process of optical module development phase.

6. In-depth knowledge of DSP internal architecture, proficient in DSP debugging and optimization methods, with rich practical experience in DSP-related performance tuning and problem solving.

7. Willingness to take frequent business travel to provide on-site support to customers.
